Doctoral Capstone – Cognitive Health Programming & Virtual Reality Integration
The Cedars Assisted Living | Jan 2026 – Apr 2026
My doctoral capstone focuses on the development and implementation of innovative, evidence-informed interventions to support individuals living with dementia in a community-based outpatient respite program.
Contributing to the implementation of the Work Your Memory (WYM) cognitive-motor intervention study, including research preparation, IRB materials, and program development
Conducting participant assessments and outcome measurements to evaluate cognitive function, engagement, and quality of life
Developing program policies, procedures, and staff training materials to support sustainable dementia programming
Immersive Virtual Reality Integration
A key focus of my capstone is the integration of immersive virtual reality (VR) as a therapeutic tool to enhance engagement and participation for individuals with dementia.
Exploring the use of VR to create meaningful, sensory-rich experiences that support cognitive stimulation and emotional well-being
Implementing VR-based interventions within a structured outpatient respite program
Evaluating the impact of immersive technology on engagement, mood, and overall quality of life
This work reflects my interest in combining innovative technology with client-centered, occupation-based practice to create accessible and meaningful therapeutic experiences.
